First,
a little about steam traps: Steam traps are used in factories,
hospitals, hotels and many other large buildings everywhere.
They prevent heat transfer reduction and pipe corrosion, which
can interfere with steam flow and reduce the efficiency of a
steam distribution system. Steam traps are terrific things that
save businesses a lot of energy and money. They are not, however,
very exciting.
Armstrong International makes and sells steam traps. The company
wanted an interactive CD-ROM to help educate and test its salespeople
on the scientific principles of steam trap functions so they
could better advise customers on the appropriate products for
their applications. The CD had to be user-friendly, informative,
fun and…well, make steam traps as exciting as possible.
I think the clients got what they wanted. Below are a few still
images from the CD.
